Posh is the 2014 Mobile Distinction Communicator Award Winner
REDMOND, WASH. April 30, 2014. — As of April 29, 2014 at 7:06 am PST, Posh has been recognized as the 2014 Communicator Awards Distinction Winner in the Mobile category for our News application for mako.

So, who is mako anyway and what do they do? Well, it is the top online news and entertainment portal in Israel; in fact, it is the fastest growing news and entertainment site in Israel, ranking number 3 among all Israeli websites with more than 2 million unique monthly users. Mako offers a compelling mix of news, entertainment, lifestyle, and television shows on the leading broadcast channel (channel 2).
Mako dominates the apps world in Israel, and operates one of the leading Facebook fan pages with 613,000 likes, along with numerous other social media pages, mako brings their mass following to a total of over 1 million fans. Even with such a solid fan base, mako still wanted to continue to grow and reach an ever greater audience.
Posh recently convinced mako to move to the Windows 8 platform and executed a Windows 8.1 app. We knew it was a great application, but did not anticipate that it would become an award-winning application. The successful delivery allowed Posh to expand the presence of mako to include a Windows Phone 8 version of the app to be published by end of FY14.
- A background downloader in order to easily display the progress of each download and provided the ability to download large data files.
- A file system query solved the issue behind the inability to display lots of files from a local device to the app in less time.
- Enhanced security by generating pdf thumbnails at the time of downloading and hid those in the app for privacy reasons.
Posh provided Mako with end to end application development, including detailed graphic design, development and deployment to the Microsoft app store. Mako needs to demonstrate leadership and presence in all available significant media and entertainment channels. In this sense, Posh helped Mako expand their reach out to the Windows 8 audience.
